We Love To See The Temple

We are so excited about the new Phoenix Temple that was recently finished! It is 7.2 miles from our front door to the parking lot of the temple and it takes us less than 15 minutes to get there. Even when we lived in Provo and Orem, with the traffic and crazy drivers, it took us longer to get to the temple than it will now. It is so exciting! We lived in the temple district when the plans were first announced, back when Clay was starting pharmacy school. When he graduated, we moved into the Mesa Temple district. When we bought our house, we were so excited to be moving back into the Phoenix Temple area.

We were so excited to take our family to the open house in October. We parked at the water park across the street from the temple and rode a bus over. The kids loved the bus ride. They loved the shoe covers they got to wear. They were so rowdy outside but the second that we stepped in the doors, they got so reverent and peaceful. It was so watching the kids take everything in. Everything inside was absolutely stunning. Click HERE to see pictures of the inside. So beautiful. And aside from Leila trying to take a dip in the baptismal font, they kids were amazing. As soon as we got back outside, however, all bets were off. Leila ran and fell down and skinned her knee. You would have thought she had caught some shrapnel the way she was going on about her knee. Even after getting a Doc McStuffins bandaid, she still hobbled around like she was never going to walk the same again.

After the tour inside the temple, we went to the reception tent and got to touch the Christus statue. The kids loved that they were allowed to touch it.

This was the best shot out of several. If this is any indication of how our family picture session is going to go this year, I am in serious trouble.

Love this! (and that she is holding up her dress so it doesn't touch her ouchie)

We can't wait for the temple dedication in a couple weeks! Clay is in young men's at church and he has been able to go to all of the cultural celebration practices with the youth. It's going to be spectacular! We are so excited!
