Grandad's Cows

We took off for a quick surprise weekend trip to Monticello this past weekend. It was fun surprising Doug and Steph with a short little visit. And the girl who always has her camera with her (although it is sometimes sans memory card) forgot her camera. Doug was nice enough to let me borrow his for the weekend. I am used to a Nikon, but it didn't take too long before I was able to figure out his Canon. Pregnant brain has officially taken over. I can't remember anything!

Friday morning after breakfast, we headed down to the canyon where the cows are wintering. We went to feed a little later in the morning than usual so they were pretty hungry by the time we got down there!

I drove my car down the canyon. When we got to the gate we all hopped into Grandad's truck for the bumpy ride the rest of the way to the cows. Zane loved helping Grandad shift the truck!

Three generations of men who love tolerate the cows.

Doug did all of the heavy lifting and actually fed the cows.

Zane ran back and forth along the fence and scared the cows away.

The calves were pretty leery of Zane too.

The whole rest of the weekend, Zane kept asking to go back and see Grandad's cows.

Zane wanted to do everything that Grandad did. One of these days, we will send him up to Monticello to learn how to drive tractors and fix fence. Then he can really be like his daddy!
