Micke Grove

Micke Grove is a regional park in Stockton. I think. I went there years ago with my dad for his company picnic. There are lots of picnic areas, a Japanese garden,  a little zoo full of birds and small monkeys, and a tiny amusement park. We spent the morning playing with birds, taking Zane on rides that he probably shouldn't have gone on, and having a picnic lunch.

We had a blast hanging with the lorakeets in the aviary. We didn't buy nectar to feed the birds, but one of the volunteers handed me a mellow bird to hold. Zane looks nervous in this picture, but he was actually enjoying it.

The birds were so beautiful! Grandpa even bought Zane his own stuffed lorakeet. We named him Lorenzo.

Funland was pretty much a bunch of travelling fair rides permanently stuck in one place. Each ride only had the requirement of being able to sit up independently. Zane meets that requirement, so we took him on all the rides. He wasn't tall enough to go alone, so someone had to ride with him, even on the smallest rides. Can you see my knee sticking up on the side. I was pretty squished. Good thing Clay didn't try to ride.

Hopefully this is a sign that we won't have to worry about Zane being an angry driver.

We all got to ride on the train. Zane made a train whistle noise, "Woooo, Woooo" the whole time we rode around Funland, while holding Lorenzo.

This is the first ride that Zane probably shouldn't have gone on. I'm surprised that he didn't throw up afterward. I love spinning rides and I love getting dizzy, but Clay said he was worried about losing his  own breakfast if the ride had gone on any longer. Poor Zane.

Zane was making this face the whole time he went on the tiny roller coaster. Obviously Clay was having a good time. Despite looking terrified, he wanted to go again as soon as he got off the ride.

Once again, I got nice and squished on the pirate ship. This ride went around like the cars, but we also went up and down. Zane liked it, but was unsure when we were going up and down. This probably had something to do with the noise the ride was making.

Clay and Zane took a turn driving the cars around a track. Zane totally loved this one.

Grandpa took Zane on the spinning strawberries. Zane hated this particular ride from start to finish. By this time he was getting hot and hungry.

We ended our day at Funland with another spin on the cars. This was probably Zane's favorite of the day. He liked looking at the scenery as it went by.

This is the last of our vacation posts. We had better start doing some interesting things quick, so I have new things to put up on the blog!
