Have I ever mentioned that I love Monterey? It is one of my very favorite places in the world. And the aquarium is one of my favorite places in my favorite place. Grandpa O picked us all up after our fun times in Morgan Hill and we headed down to Monterey to spend a fun day.
Zane was fascinated by the jellies.... Let's be honest, we were all fascinated by the jellies.
Last time Zane went to the aquarium, he spent the whole time sleeping in his stroller. It was fun to watch him get excited about all the fish.
I love that there are so many hands-on activities for the little ones.
"I speak whale."
When you ask Zane what a fish says, he puckers up his mouth and makes a fish kiss noise. That is also what he will do if you point to a fish and ask him what it is. That is also what he will do when he is asking for more goldfish crackers.
We spent a good chunk of the morning playing in the toddler area. Zane loved running around on and dancing on this waterbed-like play space.
It is next to impossible to get this boy away from water!
He may be an oceanologist or an oceanographist (10 points if you know where that is from). Here he was learning about different currents and how they affect things in the water. He is so advanced for his age.
Look at my little scientist, hard at work.
I have always loved going tide-pooling, so it was fun to let Zane touch the cool tide-pool creatures. We squished a sea cucumber, felt sea stars, and enjoyed the texture of the kelp.
Grandpa loved showing Zane all of the cool fishies. And Zane loved every second.
And here's one more kelp-forest fish for the road.
MWAH (fish kiss smacking noise)
