We love the Wildlife World Zoo!
Grandpa O came to Phoenix to play with us so we headed out to the "other" zoo to play today. Wildlife World has amazing exhibits where you can get so much closer to any of the animals than I have ever seen. There is even an aquarium. What more could we ask for?
We were greeted by macaws at the entrance to the zoo. Literally, they said, "Hi". We found out that most of these birds (there were quite a few) are pets that people donated to the zoo. The zookeeper described owning a macaw as a pet like this: Imagine having a two-year-old, with their same mentality, vocabulary, and tantrums, in a bird's body, that will live for eighty years.
No Thanks. I'll take a dog, please.
We all know that Zane's favorite thing to do is play with and touch animals. He had a blast in the petting area where he got in touch with some tortoises.
"Come back here, friend!!! I just want to play."
The tortoises were surprisingly fast and they seemed to know when Mr. Zane was on the move.
Even though we didn't have any food, we were swarmed by goats, deer, and an alpaca. Zane was in absolute heaven.
Oh, Deer.
Zane would have sat with the deer babies for the rest of the day if we had let him.
Another pretty bird. It was fun having my zoom lens on my camera.
There were two gorgeous leopards in the enclosure. Stunning.
I think giraffes are some of the coolest animals. Their coloring is pretty.
And they have the best tongues!
I'd love to have eyelashes like a giraffe. Well, maybe not. My existing eyelashes already brush up against my glasses when I take out my contacts.
My cute boys enjoyed watching the animals together. Each time we go to the zoo, Zane becomes more and more interested and absorbed in the animals. Specifically the ones he can't touch.
Zane loves his stuffed zebra and he was excited to see the real thing up close and personal. We were probably about eight feet from them. So cool.
The white rhino refused to show us anything but his best side.
Funny story:
When we were looking at the rhino, a group of kids ran up. A 9-year-old boy read the sign and yelled, "Hey guys, look!!!! A rhinoso-saurus!!!" He was so excited. I can't say that I have ever seen a rhinoso-saurus. Sounds pretty interesting though.
We enjoyed watching the monkeys just hanging out, eating their lunch.
The white tiger had the fiercest blue eyes. I wish I could have captured them.
Make way for Mama Duck and her cute little babies. Some of them were black and white and stripey. The normal one looks jealous of his brothers and sisters.
Since it was lunch time for the animals, we decided it was lunch time for us too. We ordered some delicious lunch and watched the flamingos from our patio table.
We are so excited to head to the peach festival in Queen Creek tomorrow. Peach pancake breakfast and u-pick peaches and apricots? Yes, please!
What a fun day. Heather, your pictures are amazing and I'm loving your zoom lens. Do you take classes online or have you gone to an actual sit down class. Either way, they are fabulous!!
