First of all, I am SUPER annoyed with Blogger. No. I am BEYOND annoyed. Apparently they only give you one gig of storage space per google account to store your pictures. I didn't ask you to store my pictures. I asked you to nicely let them hang out and play on my blogs. Since I have reached my limit, they have kindly let me know that I can pay a yearly fee to add more storage space to my account. I was interrupted in the middle of trying to upload the photos for this post. I decided instead to go back to my other two blogs and start deleting pictures and posts. I'll probably end up needing to pay the $5 to get the extra storage space, but I am in the middle of a mini-protest tonight. If these pictures of our night last night weren't so cute, I would have given up the whole thing completely. Grrrrrrrr. Which leads me to:
Glendale Glitters!
I knew that Historic Downtown Glendale did something fun for Christmas time, but I wasn't sure exactly what. In the spirit of trying to help Clay have a little more Christmas Cheer, I looked up some things to do (for free!) around town to get into the spirit of things. Apparently for Clay, it just isn't Christmas time if it isn't cold and there isn't any snow. I took that as a challenge to insert as much festive merry-making into this holiday season as possible. Glendale Glitters is an annual festival that includes lots of lights, a Christmas tree, fun performances by local artists, and fun events at the local shops. All things I completely love!
When we first walked toward the park downtow, I was so excited by the lights!
If you have spent much time around my son, you know that the kid is obsessed with lights. Stoplights, street lights, brake lights, ceiling lights, and yes, Christmas lights. Did I mention that he loves lights? We couldn't have come to a better place to see lights! And here, he even go to touch them!
I read on the website that there was a giant tree downtown as part of the celebration that included a light show set to music. We were at the festival for about an hour before it was time to get Zaner home to bed. I was a little sad when we found what I thought was the Christmas tree. It was just a regular tree (pretty tall, but regular anyway) and I was dissappointed. As we walked toward our car, I wanted to go down one more cute little street to look at the shops. I saw some lights twinkling down an alleyway. As I turned, I saw one of the most beautiful Christmas trees I have ever seen. I am a little embarassed to admit it, but I was so overwhelmed with happiness at finally finding the elusive tree, that I definately started to cry (I promise I was just overcome with Christmas Spirit, and that I am not overcome with child). Even though it was time to get Zane to bed, we stayed at the tree for a good 30 minutes or so, enjoying the lights and music that went along with it. We thought Zane was excited by the lights before. That was nothing compared to how he stared with wonder at the tree!
We had the best time last night! I can't wait until next Christmas when we get to go back to Glendale Glitters!
I like how Clay is in a t-shirt and you and Zane look all bundled. So like the Pehrson boys not to wear any sweaters. Cody would wear flip flops all year if we didn't live in Wisconsin of all places. Anyways, I am glad you found your tree and that you got to spend some good quality time with your boys. Plus I wanna say Thanks for Talmages birthday and xmas gifts.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe that Blogger issue too!! Ugh! G.Glitter was a lot of fun we went last night!! Glad you had fun!
