Let's Play Music

Back in May, we got to go to Zane's Let's Play Music Recital. LPM is such a great program! And we are lucky enough that my good friend and neighbor is one of our local teachers. (There are teachers all over the country... check them out HERE). It's a three year program that teaches children basic music theory and the tonal bells the first year, then moves into the keyboard in the second and third years. It really is mind boggling just how much Zane has learned about music so far.

His first year recital in May was completely adorable. He was so nervous and excited about it. He got to play a couple of little solos on the bells.

Each year, they also have two puppet shows based on a piece of classical music. The one they performed was from the opera Carmen. Zane played the part of the evil genie.

Not sure what he's doing here.  I think he was really into acting out the puppet show.

At the end, they combined with the second year students for a couple of songs.

We love Miss Jenny! She is a spectacular music teacher and an even better friend.

Zane started his second year of the program a few weeks ago. He uses a keyboard in class and practices for a couple of minutes every day on the piano. I'm seriously blown away by all that he has learned just in the past few weeks alone... not to mention everything he learned last year. He can pick out all the c's and f's on the piano, can play and recognize a "c" chord with the correct fingers, knows the difference between and can play a second, a third, and a fourth, knows the difference between a major chord and a minor chord, and more. It's pretty amazing and I'm so proud of my budding musician!

  1. Absolutely marvelous, Heather. Looks like we have a budding musician in the family. Many thanks for posting.
