A Little Late...

But Christmas nonetheless.

We got to talk to Bryan on Christmas eve. You can see the phone sitting in the middle of the table, and Dad has his list of notes and questions to refer to. Apparently Clay was the only one aware that I was taking a picture. It was so fun to get to talk to him. He already has a latino accent, which is pretty funny to hear. He is doing some amazing things down in Honduras! Clay got a little bit of candy in his stocking. He's not pleased at all, as you can tell!

The day after Christmas we went to the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose. It has been a while since I took fieldtrips there in elementary school. There are so many cool things to do! Clay and I designed a roller coaster with some engineering software. Before you are allowed to "ride" it, the computer does a simulation of what you designed to make sure it is a viable roller coaster. The first one that we designed was so steep and fast that the g-force was too much and would have killed anyone who rode it. We were allowed to ride the second one that we made. It was a little safer.
Dad and Ashely were on the other side of a screen telling Avatars to tell us what to do. Sound complicated? We were doing the hokey pokey and dancing, and doing other random things because characters on a giant screen in front of us were telling us what to do. People on the other side of the screen were telling those cartoon characters what to do, and watching us make fools of ourselves. What could be better?

We got to ride in a bobsled. We got a pretty good time when I kicked Clay out of the driver's seat!

The point of this was to design a water wheel that would produce the most possible energy. Clay got to play around with different blades and ways to increase the water pressure to get his RPMs up. He totally beat the 7-year-old next to him!

Clay got to play around with what it would be like to be an astronaut with a jet pack. I think this may have been one of his favorite parts of the whole trip.
